Sprouts and Whole Foods are supplied mainly through KeHE and UNFI distribution centers in the Inland Empire and the Los Angeles Basin. Erewhon publishes its own receiving terms. Why does a store account usually mean a distributor dock?
Brands think in accounts and store counts. Freight thinks in docks. When a brand lands Sprouts or Whole Foods in Southern California, the purchase order that matters for freight usually comes from a distributor, and it names one distribution center as the delivery point.
That building has its own receiving hours, its own appointment system, and its own idea of a good pallet. Some buildings of the same distributor do not even take the same product. KeHE, for example, routes fresh product in Southern California to a different building than grocery and natural product.
So the first freight question for any SoCal account is not "which store?" It is "which building is on the PO, and what does it receive?"

Where are the UNFI and KeHE buildings in Southern California?
UNFI lists four Southern California facilities in two corridors. KeHE lists two, a few miles apart, for different product. The City of Industry consolidation hub we ship through sits between both corridors.

For distributor-supplied accounts, the store is not the delivery point. Read the PO for the receiving facility before you price the shipment.
Sending fresh product to the wrong KeHE building
